Why Men Need To Spend Less On Fashion Trends And More On Classic Styles?

Spending less money on fashion trends is a delightful and a great financial saving idea because it allows a man to save money and use it for other basic needs that are required on a daily basis. On the other hand, spending more on classic styles is a wonderful financial saving idea because of the advantages of classic styles on men.

This blog post will explore the advantages of spending more on classic styles and the disadvantages of spending more on fleeting fashion trends. Plus, this post will explain 2 simple reasons why men need to spend less on trends and more on the classics.

Fashion trends cost a lot of money for some men yet classic styles are affordable (Buy once classic pieces and you are set for a lifetime of looking stylish)

The number one reason why men must spend less on fashion trends and more on classic style, it is because of this crystal clear reason and that is trends cost men an arm and a leg. Trends usually are like the newest current hit list on the market and just like all new things in the industry, people become reluctant, shy and unsure about that product until they are used to it after some time. Hence, men need to wake up and smell the coffee that new does not mean stylish or better especially if it loses value or disappears years later.

On the other hand, classic style or fashion is a style that dates back to the 1920s to 1960s and it was called the ‘Golden Age of Menswear”. Classic style in 2024 does not cost humongous amounts of money since this is a style that was there for ages plus thrift stores and other low class stores sell classy pieces at low prices making it convenient for men to buy classic pieces that stand the test of time compared to vanishing trends made by Fashion Designers.

Fashion trends fade away yet classic style is enduring and timeless

A quote by a respected style icon says that “Fashion fades away yet style is eternal” and as an Advocate of fashion trends being a waste, I agree that trends are easily swept away compared to classic style that stands tall even in the fast changing world of fashion. Yearly, Designers create trends that will be dressed to the nines by Models which is an amazing thing but the fact of the matter is that, trends are like the weather, they easily convert making it hard for men to adopt to what is in and out of fashion due to the influx of fashion designs that are quite many every year.

On the other hand, classic style is what I would call a man’s best friend because of the simple reason which is that it lasts a long period. The suits, the briefcases, suspenders and vintage ties our ancestors and forefathers wore back in the day in the 80s and 90s still look authentic and dapper even in 2024 plus elegant like fine wine.

Therefore, men need to make good financial management decisions by spending less on trends and more on classics since they can be worn yearly without going out of style.

My pleasure sir. Thank you so much brother John for taking time to read my work. I usually urge all men to invest their hard earned money on classic styles because they last longer and you save money in the long run😀💯🙏

I agree with the overall message, invest your money in trend-resistant stuff. I think the current baggy sweatpants trend is garbage. Was just looking for an excuse to rant about ‘following trends’, namely people treat ‘trends’ as ‘rules’, can’t stand it. The practice of throwing away perfectly-serviceable items because no-longer declared ‘in’ (by whom) & blowing tons of money on the latest stuff deemed ‘in’ (by whom?) really annoys me. I try to adopt styles that are both trend-resistant and that I’m happy with (those trends I like, I keep). People try to enforce conformity to trends by saying ‘that’s ‘dated” (appeal to the era, appeal to majority). A reason people blindly follow trends (& throw out perfectly good items) is because they’re shamed to. They’re told classic stuff is ‘dated’. If more people had a ‘fuck-it, I don’t care’ attitude, & not let the ‘trend setters’ tell them how to dress, more people would dress how they want, and people would save money, and there’d be less waste.

Thank you for sharing this long and detailed comment! You sort of have a point here.

In my professional experience, in terms of dressing sharp for work or for any event, a classic style such as a fitted suit will always look presentable in the eyes of people and neat unlike trends that are skin revealing and a waste of money but then again, it depends on individual preferences and personal decisions about what to wear both the men and women!
