Suits are a uniform of success and elegance. A man in a suit is seen as focused, wealthy as a fat paycheck, competent and successful. To ensure men look dazzling and sharp in a suit, brining in five essential clothing pieces as a man that go hand in hand with a nice fitted suit is a must. This blog post will dish out 5 clothing pieces that complete a suit and are significant in the formal wear department.
- Dress shirts
In the past, I published a blog post titled “5 Must Have Items For Men That Complete The Formal Look”, that post elaborated on the importance of stripping in a dress shirt in a variety of colors and patterns especially the white dress shirt. Dress shirts are shirts made from cotton and they come in a mixture of colors such as Black, Blue, Red, Green and Brown.
A suit is incomplete without the dress shirt because it goes along with the suit and a suit needs a necktie in the process hence the need of a dress shirt. It really is hard as a rock to wear a suit without a dress shirt because that no longer fits the definition of formal menswear. Therefore, for men who want to look dapper in suits, a dress shirt is a must have and one great benefit is that they are very affordable.
2. Neckties
It really is not a suit without the necktie piece. Neckties date back to centuries and they symbolize order, nobility and honor. Neckties come in different colors and they comprise of bowties and long regular ties. This clothing piece is very crucial for men who attend lots of formal events such as Seminars, Conference, Meetings such as Annual General Meetings, Workshops, Job Interviews and functions such as funerals. As someone who admires wearing neckties, I strongly suggest men purchase one because they look sharp as a Knight’s sword with suits. Neckties are really not that costly and regardless of where you come from, your race, social status and ethnicity, men look fine wearing ties and people tend to grant respect to such men. Plus, a tie allows a man to look laser focused on his duties and people tend to respect a man wearing a nice fitted suit.
3. Watches or tie clips for details
A man doesn’t just need a suit, he needs nice polished details such as tie clips and watches. The use of tie clips is to adjust the necktie in proportion and it allows the long necktie not to blow over when the wind kicks in. A red necktie for instance, worn with a blue suit and the white dress shirt looks clean and professional but the style detail that is missing is the tie clip or tie pin. Watches are also a great accessory and it allows a man to be punctual. Having both these clothing items, that is, the watch and tie pin, allows men to look stylish with a taste with class since suits anytime and any day, look classic.
4. Pocket square (AKA Handkerchief)
Pocket squares are like the missing ingredient to a meal and for the meal to look succulent and tasty, ingredients are needed or else the food will taste poorly. In regards to men’s fashion outfits, pocket squares are a sartorial detail and a stylish accessory that add flare to the suit. For work purposes, if you are the type of man who wears suits, you are a Financial Manager, a white pocket square is a must for enhancing professional appearances and looking like a man ready to focus and do business. Also, there are many ways to fold a pocket square but for style, the presidential fold is perfect in this case. 5. Nice footwear such as loafers
A suit cannot be complete without shoes. As the saying goes “Shoes transform the body”, your shoes can either make or break your outfit and the suit color too. In terms of suits that are described as a jacket and trouser made from the same fabric, loafers and dress shoes or even black boots for cold weather fit the profile of a nice professional suit. Loafers and perhaps boat shoes can either be suede, brown, black and green in colors are ideal for formal suits. Also, men to pick great outfit combinations such as a Navy blue suit looks fresh with brown loafers or black boots the same goes for a black suit with black boots which is a great style for not drawing in attention.
CONCLUSION
To conclude, these are a must have pieces for men needed in pulling off a suit professionally:
- Dress shirts
- Neckties
- Pocket squares AKA handkerchief
- Nice footwear such as loafers
- Watches or tie clips for details
