How To Not Go Overboard With Your Style As A Man?

Going overboard can lead to negative consequences in life. They usually say too much of a thing is very dangerous and I can attest to that fact because when you go overboard and overdo an activity it can be very bad for you at the end of the day. Take for example a car that goes beyond its limits and once the driver over speeds, he may lose control and cause an accident that can be life threatening. The same can be said about style, when you overdo your dress code and add unnecessary colors or details, you end up ruining the style. This blog post will dish out pictures and supporting content that helps men to not go overboard with their dress codes.

  • Avert Fashion Trends
THIS FASHION TREND IS A BIT OVERBOARD FOR THE MAN IN HIS 50s TO 60s.

This is one way to not go overboard with your chosen dress code and that is run away from current fashion trends especially men who are in their 50s to 60s, it is not a great style for their age. The reason why older men must avert fashion trends it is because such tends are expensive to maintain and are pulled of better by the younger generations since it is suitable for their age group as the youth. For the older men, I suggest they stick with classic style because it will never fade and the style doesn’t look overboard at all , it is clean ,timeless and elegant.

  • Keep details minimalistic and moderate
FOR SMART CASUAL WEAR KEEP DETAILS SIMPLE. A WATCH ⌚IN THIS TRADITIONAL AFRICAN REGALIA OUTFIT IS THE ONLY DETAIL NEEDED NOT CHAINS OR RINGS!

Details such as sunglasses, watches, rings and chains and others should not be worn all at once but a few of them to keep the style simple yet significant and most importantly not overboard.

  • Suit colors must not be too flashy(Especially pink suits)
TOO MUCH COLOR ON A SUIT IS A SIGN OF GOING OVERBOARD!

For suit colors, I usually say solid colors such as navy blue, brown, grey, sky blue and black are must have colors because they look good and are ideal for formal functions such as weddings and graduations and others. Flashy suit colors like silk, pink, yellow and orange overdress a man which is going overboard.

  • Avoid Tattoos and don’t layer too much clothing

Looking at the picture at the start of this blog and the one of the man with a pink suit, you will notice both men have tattoos and in my view it is going overboard because such tattoos don’t look fine especially those all over the body. To ensure that those tattoos become invisible, men must layer their clothes but in moderation. In some countries tattoos are not allowed in the workplace hence men need to at least have a small tattoo or none at all.

Agree with you Mthobisi that going overboard can have negative consequences. It is rightly said that excess of everything is bad. Hence, we must be moderate in our styles and behaviors. The same also holds true for our dressing. You’ve offered a piece of valuable advice on dressing properly and avoiding going overboard.
